Toronto is the largest city in Canada. Converting abandoned buildings into lofts can revive run-down areas of old cities, and provide interesting living space for artistically inclined individuals.There are two categories of loft apartments. Now, soft lofts are the constructed projects with some loft characteristics such as open spaces, higher ceilings, and finishes with elegant industrial look.
Hard lofts, are created from existing industrial or commercial buildings. Merchandise Lofts in Toronto are the hard lofts which were converted from warehouses, factories, and office buildings. Some of the units are considered as renovations. Their attractiveness is due to following features of the old buildings. Those are retained with wide staircases, high ceilings, huge wood beams, metal framed windows, old wood or concrete floors.
Because of the popularity of lot apartments, as the older buildings have become harder to find, some brand new lofts are being built in Toronto. High prices for freehold residences make it difficult for young people to buy property close to the city centre, where they would be close to work and entertainment.
There are over 100 loft buildings in Toronto, and more are being converted and built so that the lofts in Toronto has been experiencing a busy real estate market.
